The National Open Forum for the Intangible Cultural Heritage Project under the theme; “Strengthening Capacities to Safeguard Intangible Cultural Heritage and Contribute to Sustainable Development” was held in Accra.
The purpose is to present the folklore elements identified from the sixteen (16) regions to regional representatives and stakeholders for validation. The programme took place at the Tomreik Hotel.
The event was attended by the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Honorable Mark Okraku Mantey, the UNESCO Programmes Officer for Culture, Mr. Carl Ampah, the Secretary-General for Ghana Commission for UNESCO Mrs. Ama Serwaa Tetteh Nerquaye, the Acting Executive Director for National Commission on Culture, Representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and the Ghana Heritage Committee as well as the Ghana Law School. Folklore Club members from the Kathy Knowels Library also participated.
