We commemorated the International Day of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Accra with a press conference on the theme; “The Socio- Economic Benefits of Safeguarding Ghana’s Intangible Cultural Heritage”.
The aim is to inspire the youth to appreciate and preserve Ghana’s cultural heritage, ensuring continuous transmission for generations to come. The event was also designed to create awareness and understanding, support individual (private) and community participation and promote collaboration between stakeholders to safeguard intangible cultural heritage.
Speakers at the Press Conference included Professor Abdulai Salifu Asuro, the Board Chairman for the National Folklore Board, Mrs. Bernice Ann Deh – Kumah, Executive Director of the National Folklore Board, Mr. Carl Ampah, a representative from the UNESCO Office in Accra, and Mrs. Ama Serwaa Neequaye Tetteh, Secretary – General, Ghana Commission for UNESCO.
